The prestigious Fuori Concorso event recently descended upon the picturesque lakeside city of Como. The motoring-themed affair included a cavalcade of unique vehicles from the Porsche Museum and provided the perfect opportunity for the recently revealed 911 Sport Classic to make a public appearance. The glamorous happening also allowed Porsche to showcase its extensive range of individualization options available under the 'Sonderwunsch' (special request) banner.

In addition to the Sport Classic, several members of the Heritage Design family were in attendance, including the bewitching 911 Speedster and the Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition. Exceptional prototypes from the company's museum rounded off the display, while those hoping to glean insights into the world of Porsche's diverse customization program could attend talks hosted by experts such as chief designer, Michael Mauer.

With premium carmakers hoping to attract the business of discerning customers, almost everybody offers a personalization scheme - even Cadillac plans to offer this service. But Porsche considers itself a pioneer of in-house custom work. Across the lineup, there are over 700 options to choose from. This is bolstered by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, which offers buyers the opportunity to purchase highly exclusive models.

But the company isn't stopping there. Porsche has looked to its past for inspiration and is set to reinterpret the Sonderwunsch program. First established in the late '70s, this bespoke amenity allowed for the production of unique, one-of-one motorcars. Described as a "co-creation" strategy, owners work closely with Porsche experts to create the vehicle of their dreams.

Factory re-commissioning centers around unique exterior paintwork and cabin materials, while a Factory One-Off service (for existing vehicles) allows for unique features to be fitted to any Porsche, regardless of age.

An assortment of custom colors - comprised of historic or personal hues - is available across the range and bolsters the individualization options already on offer. Porsche has always offered a wonderful color palette, as evidenced by its new display in Atlanta.

The company's Tequipment range of accessories also heightens the tailor-made feel Porsche is hoping to generate, with a bevy of specially designed extras available across the range. The Taycan, for example, is available with more than 600 distinctive options, meaning that buyers can truly build themselves a one-of-a-kind electric car.

"We curated a unique selection of Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur cars, that have been and are today at the pinnacle of the capabilities of the 'in-house' atelier of Porsche ... I am confident to say that Porsche is truly able to make car enthusiast's dreams come true with their Sonderwunsch program," said Fuori Concorso organizer, Guglielmo Miani.
