Yes, the new Porsche 911 R is designed for purists but it's also packed to the gills with tech. To show how this tech works the automaker has created a series of videos with the uninspired name of "Driving lessons with the 911 R." Despite this boring title the videos are actually pretty damn cool as they break down technical concepts into simple forms and show them in action with drivers behind the wheel. The latest video explains a technique many gearheads know of but might not know how to execute: heel-and-toe downshifting.
Porsche works driver Patrick Long explains the importance of using heel-toe downshifting before showing how the 911 R in sport mode can just do the work for you. Check it out for yourself and with any luck you'll one day be downshifting just like Senna.
