Despite a year-on-year sales decline in Q2 as a result of the global pandemic, Porsche is expanding in a big way, but its latest plans have nothing to do with the introduction of a new model. Rather, the company will be expanding its presence in Georgia with the multi-million dollar development of the new Porsche Service Center South Atlanta and a Porsche Classic Factory Restoration facility on the same site.

Already, the Porsche North American headquarters exists at this location at the Northeast corner of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The existing site covers 27 acres, but the new developments alone will cover 33 acres.

Construction is set to get underway this month, starting with the new service center, which will be a 20,815 square-foot facility. Along with a waiting lounge for customers, it will feature 13 lift bays to service vehicles and a Porsche Driver's Selection boutique.

"Porsche is committed to the United States and our American hometown of Atlanta," said Kjell Gruner, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America. "We see a prime opportunity to continue enhancing the customer experience by expanding our campus for faster service at a unique location next to the world's busiest airport."

The Porsche Experience Center is already a highlight in Atlanta. Since 2015, over 270,000 visitors have enjoyed its activities, including the chance to drive the likes of the 911 GT3 along with the help of a personalized driving coach. After the service center is completed in the third quarter of next year, the experience center will receive a track extension. We also can't wait to see what comes out of the Porsche Classic Factory Restoration facility, with these later additions expected to be completed by mid-2023.

"The City of Hapeville is excited to see Porsche Cars North America, Inc. launch the expansion of its North American headquarters," said Mayor Alan Hallman. "We look forward to Porsche breaking ground and expanding their footprint within the Hapeville community."
