Back in 2018, the Porsche Macan was given a mid-cycle facelift to help it compete with newer SUVs on the market such as the Jaguar F-Pace and Mercedes-Benz GLC. The original Macan launched in 2014 and is Porsche's best-selling model, but the next-generation model is just around the corner.

While the all-new Macan will be fully electric when it goes on sale in 2022, Porsche knows that not everyone is ready to embrace battery-electric vehicles. Porsche doesn't want to lose sales, so the current-generation Macan will live on for a few more years. To keep the SUV looking fresh, our spy photographers have discovered Porsche is preparing to give the Macan yet another refresh before the current model is discontinued.

Mini is adopting a similar strategy, as the Cooper is also getting a second facelift before the next-generation model arrives. Camoflague applied to the front of the prototype suggests the updated Macan will get a tweaked front bumper and a redesigned grille and air intakes.

Stickers have been applied to the headlights disguising the new graphics and the rear bumper has been revised. There are also some subtle changes to the door designs, as the side blades on the lower parts of the doors are removed. All three prototypes are fitted with Sport Design side mirrors, so this could be a standard option for the upcoming facelift model.

While the exterior changes will be subtle, more significant changes can be found inside the cabin including a redesigned center console that mirrors the Cayenne's console with touchpads replacing physical buttons. The new steering wheel design from the recent Porsche Panamera facelift will also carry over to the Macan.

We'll have to wait and see if there are any changes under the hood. The current Porsche Macan is offered with a choice of three powertrains: a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 248 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 with 348 hp and 354 lb-ft, and a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 developing 375 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque.
