Porsche Makes The 718 Cayman GT4 Even Racier

Special Edition / Comments

Special Sports Cup Edition applies a sportier touch to Zuffenhausen's pocket rocket.

The new Porsche Cayman GT4 is undoubtedly the sportiest, most extreme member of the 718 lineup to date. But Porsche has made it even sportier with this latest special edition.

Created to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the company's popular spec racing series, the new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Sports Cup Edition features a number of special touches crafted by the Exclusive Manufaktur division to set it apart. That starts on the outside, where red accents contrast with the white or available black bodywork, from the offset racing stripes running over the top and down the flank to the red-rimmed black alloys.

The special treatment continues inside with Alcantara trim, steering-wheel 12 o'clock mark, shifter pattern, and seatbelts – all done up in Guards Red. There's black brushed aluminum trim as well, along with a special car cover, and the number 15 featuring throughout to mark the anniversary.

The Sports Cup edition was unveiled this weekend at the Hockenheim circuit, where the German automaker has opened its newest Porsche Experience Centre (like the ones it runs here in Atlanta and Los Angeles) and where it held the season finale for this year's Porsche Sports Cup series.

Rather than limit the number of units to be made, Porsche is offering the special edition for a limited time – but they're only available through the company's dealers in its home market. So if you live outside of Germany, we're afraid you're out of luck. But wherever you live, you can still get the 718 Cayman GT4 on which it's based, and spec yours just the way you want it.

"High-quality customisation from the factory is the core competence of the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur," remarked Alexander Fabig, the company's head of personalization and classics. "With the new Sports Cup Edition, we show once more how very special sports cars are created through the combination of craftsmanship and passion for detail."
