Porsche has just released official details and pictures of its new diesel-powered Panamera. Only the second car in the Porsche lineup available with a diesel (the Cayenne was the first) in the UK, it's also the cheapest trim of the Panamera lineup so far. Although no plans have been announced to bring it to the US, Porsche still has high hopes the diesel version will be a popular choice amongst UK buyers.

Powered by the same 3.0-liter V6 from the Cayenne Diesel, it has a total of 247 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. It can go from 0 to 62 mph in 6.8 seconds and has a top speed of 150 mph. Rear-wheel-drive and an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic are standard with no other transmission options. Other standard features include steel springs (an air suspension is optional), PASM adaptive dampers, start/stop function, front and rear parking sensors, bi-xenon lights, a tire pressure monitoring system, cruise control, and a touchscreen satellite-navigation system.

Although it's not as fuel efficient as the Panamera Hybrid, it still returns 44.8 mpg. Pricing starts at £62,134 and sales will begin this fall in the UK.
