CEO says the company is still thinking about it.
Back in 2011, Porsche presented three Boxter E prototypes - electric vehicles with varying output numbers achieving a maximum range of 170 kilometers (107 miles) on a single charge. Three years later, Porsche CEO Matthias Muller says the company is still considering further development in the EV field: “Yes, of course we think about it,” he told Auto Motor und Sport. However, Muller said he wouldn't build one with a range lower than 300 km, “better 400 km.”
He also said he is not a believer in range extenders, but rather prefers purely electric models. The 170-kilometer Boxter Es introduced in 2011 and never brought to production included one with two electric motors and a combined output of 245 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque, and another two models equipped with one electric motor producing 122 hp and 199 lb-ft.
