When the R35 Nissan GT-R first launched, it was a car that was practically unbeatable on the drag strip. Back then, it was one of the most affordable supercars around, although the latest GT-R Nismo is anything but. Thus, it plays with some seriously expensive exotica, including the glorious Audi R8 and the sublime Porsche 911 Turbo S. The Turbo S is the one we're most interested in here, having watched mildly modified examples achieve ridiculous times at the drag strip in the past. Carwow in the UK is also well aware of the 911's straight-line ability and decided to see how it would fare against the other two models we've mentioned here, and the results are totally unsurprising.

Before you start complaining that people are diluting the ethos of the 911 by using the Turbo S for drag racing, remember that Porsche itself knows how important straight-line tests are and has shown us how the model has progressed by dragging it against its predecessors. So how did the above race go? Well, even with the instant throttle response that a naturally aspirated Audi R8 has, and even with the years and years of fine-tuning that the GT-R has undergone, the 911 Turbo S is just unbeatable, whether it be from the line or in a rolling race. In the standing quarter, the stock standard Turbo S manages a time of just 10.1 seconds, while the GT-R crossed the line 0.7 seconds later and the R8 finished in 11 seconds flat.

Sure, the rolling races are a little closer, but the 911, for all its chassis honing and focus on handling excellence, is still the AWD king of drag races. As per Carwow's custom, the video also includes a brake test, but the R8 narrowly wins this one. Still, it goes to show that the 911 Turbo S is arguably the most practical, most user-friendly, and most capable all-rounder you can buy and would be our go-to every day of the week. Of course, the Audi is the one that sounds best, and the GT-R is the one that the kids would usually pick first, but which would you have?
