Whether you drive a sub-$15,000 Chevrolet Spark or a $200,000 Porsche 911 Turbo, neither of these vehicles are immune to the inconveniences of parking. Be it getting stuck in a crowded lot or figuring out where and how to pay for your parking, it can be a chore, especially in congested cities. But Porsche wants to simplify this process for its customers and has now introduced a new Porsche Parking Plus app. It's designed to make it easier for Porsche owners to find the perfect parking spot while also offering the convenience of an advance, contactless pre-payment solution.

Polestar recently introduced its own EasyPark parking app, but that one hasn't yet come to North America, whereas the new Porsche app allows drivers to make parking reservations at over 4,000 parking locations across the US. These locations include major cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York. Users can search for parking based on parameters like self-park, whether or not the parking bay is covered, or if there is a valet service. For drivers of electric vehicles like the Porsche Taycan, parking can also be searched for based on whether they offer charging points. Other search parameters include parking at a specific address or at a big event, such as a concert.

"We want to give our customers a unique ownership experience," said Kjell Gruner, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America. "Now, Parking Plus users will have a much smoother parking experience running a quick errand or enjoying a night on the town."

The tech platform for Porsche Parking Plus will be managed by Arrive, a company based in Chicago, and customers can reserve their parking via PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, or credit card. Both Apple and Android devices can take advantage of the new app.
