Nearly two weeks after it was first revealed, Porsche's delightful Sally Special 911 Carrera GTS has sold at auction. RM Sotheby's and Porsche recently announced the sale - and the final price may startle you. Someone paid a whopping $3.6 million for this one-of-a-kind 911 Carrera GTS.

The vehicle attracted plenty of attention at the Monterey auction this past weekend, with many showgoers intrigued by this truly unique Porsche. The brainchild of the automaker's Sonderwunsch program, this current-generation 992 was inspired by the Cars character, Sally Carrera, and redesigned to capture the essence of the cartoon sports car.

Yes, $3.6 million is a stupendous amount of money for a 911. But, remember, the proceeds of this sale are heading towards a good cause.

Porsche North America President Kjell Gruner was overjoyed at the outcome. "I'd like to express my gratitude and profound congratulations to the winning bidder ... this generous act has made a difference for two important charities and to the lives of those they'll help."

Each and every dollar will be funneled to important charities, such as Girls Inc. and USA for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. "The money raised will go directly to them, providing life-changing educational programs to young girls in the U.S. and relief for Ukrainian refugees affected by the war," said Jay Ward.

Ward is one of the original members of the Pixar team who developed the 2006 box office hit. He was joined by Bonnie Hunt, who voices Sally Carrera and was present for the live bidding. "It's fantastic to see a car inspired by my character in Cars do so much good," she said. "I've loved playing the role of Sally for the past 16 years, she has a special place in my heart, and it's wonderful that her personality and values continue to inspire new generations today."

If the bespoke Porsche wasn't enough, the lucky buyer will also receive some smaller, special items like a special car cover and second set of wheels. There's a book that documents the creation of the vehicle from start to finish, and a matching Porsche Design timepiece finished in Sally Blue Metallic paint.

This 992 GTS will also go down in RM Sotheby's history for another noteworthy reason. It's officially the most expensive new Porsche ever sold at auction.

It's incredible to think this 911 is based on a GTS model, as Sonderwunsch has altered the appearance so extensively, even endowing it with Sally's signature tribal 'tramp stamp' tattoo.

Featuring a manual gearbox, three pedals should only enhance the experience.

Elsewhere, the interior boasts a rather unique scheme. Chalk leather is uplifted by blue stitching, Cars logos adorn various cabin surfaces, and the regular drive mode selector has been replaced with a "Kachow" mode on the rotary switch as a nod to Sally's romantic interest, Lightning McQueen.

RM Sotheby's Gord Duff says the Porsche attracted plenty of interest. "We saw a significant number of inquiries in the week before the auction, but this really accelerated as the final hours leading up to the event, driven by the incredible social media interest in the car."
