Old F-body Camaros and Firebirds certainly aren’t without their faults, namely in the quality department. That’s old GM for you. But here’s the thing about those platforms: they’re relatively easy to modify. Parts and other necessary accessories aren’t hard to come by and don’t cost an arm and a leg either. Point being, if you’re looking to buy some American muscle for a relatively good price, an F-body could be the answer. Take this 2002 Camaro SS, for example.
It’s been tuned to nearly 500 and its owner plans to add another 100 ponies in the near future. Numbers aside, it sounds great. More than great, actually. The Smoking Tire’s Matt Farah took it for a spin and was impressed for several reasons. But for us, it’s the sound of that tuned V8 that’s still ringing in our ears.
