Now entering its fourth generation, the 2016 Lexus RX has just been unveiled at the New York Auto Show. And for fans of Lexus' new design language and especially the smaller NX crossover, this new generation should offer much more of a proven good thing. The RX now incorporates Lexus' trademark spindle grille and a new aggressive fascia, in addition to triangular sharp lines, flared wheel arches and 20-inch aluminum wheels. Also noticeable are the curved rear lights and edges, corners and creases throughout.

The 2016 RX will arrive with a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 making 300 horsepower and mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Also, the hybrid version is back with its 3.5-liter V6 and smaller electric engine, producing a combined 300 hp with more efficiency. Lexus also promises a sportier version, the RX F Sport, with sporty styling and additional performance features, including alloy wheels, a dedicated instrument cluster and sports steering wheel with paddle shifters. The RX F Sport also gets an active stabilizer system, Adaptive Variable Suspension, Drive Mode Select System with a Sports S+ Mode and more.

All trims will gain a longer wheel base, improved cabin spice and more luxury and comfort features. Lexus is also boosting safety with its Safety System+ package. According to the company, "Our ambition has been to make a completely new statement in this segment while building on and staying true to the ground-breaking values of previous RX generation". As the company's best-selling model in all of its markets, customers better be ready for the luxury SUV's eccentric new styling.
