Pristine 1967 Corvette Found in a Garage

Auctions / Comments

Discovered by lucky inheritors that lived next door and didn't know it existed.

Imagine being left a house by your deceased next-door neighbor, only to go into the garage and discover a 1968 427 390 horsepower 1968 Chevrolet Corvette, its V8 engine used only to drive 2,996 miles. That's what happened to neighbors of Don McNamara from Colorado Springs, who died in 2011 and left the estate to them. McNamara had bought the car new with money he'd won on a trip to Vegas after his retirement from the US Marines.

Apparently, McNamara had told people he'd sold the car, but was actually driving it secretly at night up until the 1980s to avoid paying title and licensing fees. Equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission, the 1967 Corvette comes with the original window sticker and documentation, and will be up for auction at Houston's Mecum Auctions in April.
