Pristine Dodge Challenger Demon Has Just 61 Miles On The Clock

Muscle Cars / Comments

Let the auction bidding wars commence.

Made for just a single model year, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is highly sought after in Mopar and drag racing circles. It's easy to see why. This all-American drag strip destroyer is ridiculously fast, with one blasting past the quarter-mile mark in just 9.58 seconds - not bad for a road-legal car.

But with just 3,300 units produced, some owners are hoping to preserve the value of their limited edition Challengers, only to sell them at a later date for vast amounts of money. We've seen several pop up for sale over the last few years, such as this Norway-based Demon priced at an eye-watering $283,000.

Powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8, the rapid muscle car has a substantial 840 horsepower at its disposal. Mated to a TorqueFlite automatic transmission, the Demon is ready to excite at a twitch of the right foot. But, curiously, the example pictured below has covered only 61 miles since it rolled out the factory in 2018.

Offered for sale by Mecum Auctions, this low-miler was most likely purchased as an investment. It's certainly in pristine condition; the black paint is flawless and presents as showroom fresh. It's a superb shade for such a sinister brute, with further menace provided by the five-spoke wheels and red brake calipers.

The interior is just as spotless. The Laguna Alcantara/leather seating appear to never have been used and, while there's not much to visually excite, a few neat touches mark this Challenger out as something unique. The air vents, for example, mark this vehicle out as the 718th example built. Despite its primary objective (to slay everything on the drag strip), the luxury cabin is still generously equipped.

This specific model boasts dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, and even features Apple CarPlay. These features pale in comparison to what is arguably the most desirable option of them all - the Demon Crate package.

Based on the accompanying images, it appears untouched; a boon for the future owner. Hopefully, its new keeper will put the Demon to good use at the local drag strip. Taking control of an 840-hp muscle car is an intimidating prospect, but the mighty Dodge boasts plenty of trickery to keep itself on the straight and narrow.

Besides line-lock burnout tech, the Demon is equipped with drag mode suspension and launch assist for extra-quick take-offs. Those red calipers aren't for show - they represent the impressive stopping power afforded by the four-piston lightweight brakes. Mecum Auctions hasn't provided a sale estimate, but we're guessing this specific Demon will sell for far over its original $97,997 MSRP.

We sincerely hope the Demon is used for its intended purpose. But, to be honest, we wouldn't be surprised to see this pristine example disappear into a climate-controlled garage, only to be fished out years later as a low-mileage wonder. Interestingly, Mecum previously sold a similar Demon with just three miles on the clock.
