One thing we can all be sure about is that Ferrari is taking the testing procedure of its upcoming Purosangue performance SUV very seriously. We say this because an example of its test unit seems to be spotted every other week. With this being the brand's first-ever venture into the crossover sphere, we don't blame it for taking the time to make sure the final product is on-par with its sporting standards.

UPDATE: Check out the just-leaked images of the completely undisguised Ferrari Purosangue. Ferrari definitely didn't plan for this to happen.

The most recent test mules had cast away their Maserati Levante camouflage panels, but this latest version is most definitely hiding a production body, with Ferrari doing everything within its power to disguise the shape of the crossover, and even the wheel design. With a ton of black canvas bulged out by supporting scaffolding, almost every aspect of the design is hidden but what we can see are the LED DRLs and foglights at the front and sporty quad-tailpipes at the rear. The wheels are covered in blue tape to disguise their final design.

This covering is similar to the one that we got to see in a video posted late last year, but a bit more fabric has been added to the rear, suggesting the back-end design has been finalized. The front end is also less revealing this time around with the air intakes being completely disguised.

Set to employ the underpinnings of the Ferrari Roma, the Purosangue will be entering the competitive sporting SUV sphere rather late, where established rivals such as the Lamborghini Urus and Aston Martin DBX already having developed a solid footing. The company has confirmed that the highly anticipated product will make a market introduction at the beginning of 2023.

We're sure to get confirmed details closer to the date of its unveiling, but there have been several rumors regarding what we will find fitted beneath the hood. These suggest that two engine options will be available for the crossover, which makes sense given its position as a replacement for the GTC4Lusso which had both V8 and V12 powertrains.

As an entry-level proposition, it is understood that the Ferrari Purosange will employ a variation of the hybrid-electric gasoline V6 from the 296 GTB or the V8 currently being used in the F8 range. For the enthusiasts, there have been suggestions that Ferrari is preparing a V12 for the crossover. The only other high-riding product to offer such a powertrain is the luxurious Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
