The Ford Bronco seems to be making headlines on a daily basis, sometimes for good reasons such as the debut of the hardcore Bronco DR, and sometimes for the not-so-good reasons such as the fact that the waiting list is insanely long. It feels as though the Ford Bronco has just arrived, but Ford is already making plans for a refreshed model and orders have opened for the 2022 model year. A few weeks ago, we reported that Ford had stopped taking reservations of the 2021 model, with the company directing buyers to the 2022 model, and now we have a production date for the 2022 car: 15 December 2021.

Ford has told its customers that 2021 Bronco orders won't be filled for a while, which means that even though a date has been set, most will have to wait ages for their 2022 Broncos. The delay in deliveries can be blamed on a few issues. Firstly, the fact that the world's supply chains have been ravaged by the pandemic doesn't help, and the ongoing semiconductor chip shortage is just another pain in the behind. Add to that the fact that the Bronco is massively popular, and you end up with unhappy customers and dealerships that are taking advantage of the mad rush. Production of the 2022 car was supposed to begin on 13 December but has been pushed out by two days.

The 2022 model year will see a few changes take place across the Bronco range, the most important being the introduction of the badass Ford Bronco Raptor, as well as the Bronco Heritage Edition and the Bronco Everglades. Exterior paint colors Hot Pepper Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat and Eruption Green will replace Lightning Blue Metallic, Antimatter Blue, and Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, while Cyber Orange will become available across the board. 2022 vehicles also get a new "capable" front bumper, and the heavy-duty front bumper is now available across all trims. Four-door Sasquatch models now get a roof rack option, and can now be paired with the seven-speed manual transmission. The Wildtrak will also be offered with a soft top, and dealer-installed tube doors should become available by the end of the year.
