Ram has been hard at work with its truck range, unveiling a slew of upgrades to keep Ford and Chevrolet on their toes. The highly regarded Ram 1500 has received numerous tech upgrades and the 2500/3500 Heavy Duty trucks are set to benefit from a new Limited Night Edition that enhances the beefy styling with darkened trim and wheels.

It turns out that this option is not unique to the HDs, as Ram has now expanded the Limited Night Editions to the popular 1500, too. Ram says that the upgrade is based on the already fully loaded Limited trim. So, what exactly does it entail? Well, the monochromatic design theme, which is popular in the industry right now, is characterized by black wheels, badging, and grilles.

On the 1500, these wheels measure either 20 or 22 inches in size. The headlights and taillights have gotten the black treatment as well with darkened bezels, while the power mirrors have black caps. The 1500's sport performance hood looks like it's concealing something serious, but no mechanical changes were made. At the back, there are black exhaust tips.

Although primarily an aesthetic upgrade, these models also get a 19-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system. Tow hooks and a tri-fold tonneau cover add a touch of welcome practicality, too.

HD models have 20-inch black wheels on single-rear-wheel derivatives, while the dual-rear-wheel trucks have 17-inch wheels.

On the 1500, the Limited Night Edition can be had with either the 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrain but only on the Crew Cab, whereas it's offered on the HD-only Mega Cab as well. The Limited Night 1500 truck can be compared with the standard Limited 1500, pictured below.

"Buyers demand a good-looking truck with easy-to-use features," said Mike Koval Jr., who heads up the Ram brand. "They tell us that their Ram trucks are an extension of their personality, and want to stand out from the crowd. The stylish Limited Night Edition offers another way for customers to do just that."

Ram says that the trucks will start making their way to dealerships late in the third quarter, with the HD variants on sale now. The 1500 Limited Night begins at $60,045 while the HD has a starting price of $62,930.
