American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) has built a business out of creating some of the most rugged, off-road-capable trucks and SUVs on the market. Now, the company has announced pricing and even put up a configurator for its latest Ram Heavy Duty-based off-roader: the 2020 AEV Prospector XL. Ordering is available now.

Starting at $19,999 on top of the purchase price of the donor Ram HD, the 2020 Prospector XL comes with a bevy of standard equipment, with highlights including an AEV 3-inch DualSport RT Suspension System, a 4.10:1 differential gear upgrade, and AEV Katla wheels wrapped in massive 40-inch Toyo Open Country M/T tires.

In addition, your nearly-$20k gets you an AEV diesel intercooler shroud, stamped steel front bumper with low tube, rear bumper, ProCal module, and a hydraulic-assist steering upgrade. The upgraded fog light bezels, aggressive HighMark fender flares, IP cluster, and non-winch cover plate are all designed in-house, and the Prospector features AEV logo headrests and a full AEV branding package so no one's left guessing whether you're driving a genuine AEV creation or some cheap imitator.

There's plenty more optional content to be had, too, including AMP Research power side steps ($1,550-$1,571), an AEV bed rack ($1,860), Warn 16.5Ti winch with mount, hardware kit, and steel line ($2,252.58), and even a selection of interior leather upgrade kits ($1,900-$3,600).

The 2020 AEV Prospector XL is, as AEV itself puts it, the "ultimate vehicle for back country excursions and long hauls off the grid." As supremely capable as it is imposing, the Prospector XL has plenty for the avid off-roading enthusiast to love, from the 3-inch lift right down to the grippy Toyo mud-terrain tires.

AEV models are built in Wixom, Michigan and the upfitter has a network of certified dealers across the US, making it easier to order a vehicle or have warranty work done than with many similar vehicle upfitting operations. The only stipulation when ordering a 2020 Prospector XL is that it has to be based on a 2020 Ram HD with four-wheel-drive and a Cummins diesel engine. If you want a gasoline Ram HD truck to go off-grid, there's always the Power Wagon.
