Today is an important day for the truck industry because it marks the tenth anniversary of Ram Trucks becoming a standalone brand. Since launching in October 2009, Ram has redefined the American truck with its durability, technology, efficiency and exclusive features, including SiriusXM 360L with Personalized Stations by Pandora, reclining rear seats, multi-link coil spring rear suspension, active-level four-corner air suspension, active air dam, mild-hybrid eTorque engine options, thermal axle technology, RamBox cargo management system and multifunction tailgate.

To celebrate, Ram has launched a commemorative advertising campaign and highlighted some of the company's defining milestones in the last decade.

"Since becoming a distinct brand 10 years ago, Ram has had the benefit of being able to focus solely on trucks and commercial vehicles, allowing us to build the best vehicles possible for our customers," said Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Brand. "We expect Ram's momentum to continue, and we feel optimistic that we're making the right moves, at the right time, to attract buyers."

In 2009, Ram Truck introduced its innovative RamBox cargo management system. RamBox's side bins create storage along each side of the pickup bed – space that was previously left untouched because of wheel-well intrusion. A year later, Ram introduced its new Heavy Duty trucks with improved strength, utility and driveability. They were also available for the first time as a crew cab model. In the same year, the Ram 1500 Outdoorsman trim joined the lineup designed for outdoor enthusiasts.

2011 saw the debut of the Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn at the State Fair of Texas as the most luxurious truck the company had ever produced featuring higher quality materials. Ram also started offering a chassis cab for the 2011 model year. A new Tradesman Heavy Duty joined the lineup for the 2012 model year, bringing class-leading towing, payload and gross combined weight rating. A new six-speed automatic transmission, available on the 4.7-liter and 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engines, and new steering wheel with cruise control buttons also debuted in 2012.

In 2013, the Ram 1500 was given a refresh with an all-new grille and front fascia, improved quad projection headlamps and LED front turn signals and taillamps along with an upgraded interior. A 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine and TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission were also added.

In 2014, the Ram 1500 became the first half-ton, full-size pickup to offer durable, efficient diesel technology. Packing a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine, the diesel-powered 2014 Ram 1500 earned a best-in-class 28-mpg rating by the EPA. Ram also launched its new Commercial division the same year. The Ram 1500 Rebel debuted in 2015 featuring a new grille design, a black off-road front bumper, new front tow hooks, and new LED fog lamps and improved off-road capability thanks to Bilstein front and rear shocks.

The Ram Rebel TRX Concept debuted in 2016 as the most powerful Ram 1500 ever, packing a 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 with 575 horsepower. While it was a concept, Ram has confirmed it will enter production. New standard features were introduced for the Ram 1500 in 2017 including remote start and security alarm, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, automatic dual-zone temperature control, rear backup camera, and rear park assist. The Ram 1500 Night Edition and Ram 1500 Hydro Blue Sport also joined the lineup.

A slew of special edition trucks joined the 2018 Ram lineup including the Harvest Edition, 1500 Limited Tungsten, Laramie Longhorn Southfork and Heavy Duty Lone Star Silver editions. The fifth-generation Ram 1500 debuted in 2019 offering an upgraded eTorque version of the 3.6-liter V6 delivering 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque and a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 producing 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft. of torque.

This year, Ram also introduced its unique multifunction tailgate and the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty became the most capable pickup in the segment with a towing capacity of 35,100 pounds, a payload capacity of 7,680 pounds, and 1,000 lb-ft of torque. For the 2020 model year, the 2020 Ram 1500 debuted as America's most powerful half-ton diesel pickup truck, with 480 lb-ft of torque, and most capable light-duty diesel, with towing capability up to 12,560 pounds. Last month, the Ram 1500 also became the first full-size pickup truck to earn a Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS.
