Ram Creates New Way To Discover The TRX

Technology / Comments

It uses augmented reality!

If you just purchased a high-performance truck like the new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX, chances are you want to learn about every button, switch, and feature that it has. Ram has now made that a lot easier with a new high-tech option for TRX owners with the announcement that the TRX will be the first FCA vehicle to feature its new Know & Go mobile app.

This new smartphone application uses an augmented reality overlay on the built-in camera to give owners a live description of various vehicle features. Imagine having an owner's manual on your phone that works just by pointing the camera at a particular button or feature.

Ram says it developed the Know & Go app in less than three months after a group of FCA employees pitched it during a company Pitch Night. More than 500 original ideas were presented to FCA's CEO, with Know & Go ultimately winning out.

"We created the Know & Go app as a way for customers to interact with and learn about their vehicles throughout their ownership lifecycle and personal experiences," said Carolina Harris, a Feature Innovation Manager at FCA, and a co-creator of Know & Go.

"With all of the content on the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX, the Know & Go mobile app highlights the many new features and capabilities our customers will enjoy in a creative, exciting, and engaging way," added Mimi Nguyen, Propulsion Systems Program Manager, Product Development, and fellow co-creator.

Using the app, TRX owners can discover new features, receive push notifications of undiscovered features, rear feature overviews and watch how-to videos, and access feature-specific owner's manual pages specifically for the TRX. Following a successful launch on the Ram TRX, the app should expand to other FCA models.
