The Dakar Rally is about to get a very unique entrant for their race in 2013, three Range Rover Evoques. The aptly-named British-based Excite Rally Raid Team will be doing just that, exciting crowds and raiding the rally course. The special rally edition will be built by RaBe Race Cars and piloted by some of Britain's finest rally drivers. They will attempt to handle the bespoke vehicles, which will run on a 3-liter turbocharged straight six-cylinder diesel motor.

The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission that emits power to all four wheels. It will conform to FIA T3 class regulations, meaning a max output of 275hp and 480lb-ft of torque will be required. Excite team owner and driver John Hardy commented on the rally-spec Evoques, saying "This is the best chance an independent-manufacturer team has had to perform at the top level in a long time. We're working towards a very good result on the Dakar in 2013 and then, next time around, why not shoot for overall honors?"

The 2013 Dakar Rally is expected to run in South America just like the previous four installments of the rally race. The Evoque Rally Car is expected to challenge towards the top of the pack.
