Motor Trend compares the Ford Raptor and Ram Runner. When it comes to which is the best all-around off-road monster truck, there can be only one winner.
The Ford F-150 SVT Raptor and Mopar's Ram Runner are two of the meanest trucks on the road. Both were engineered to handle off-road racing, although where the Raptor is available straight off the assembly line, the Ram Runner comes from a dealer-installed kit. On paper at least, they are evenly matched across the board. Both are powered by 16-valve V8s with about 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, sent to all four wheels through six-speed automatics for about $46k apiece.
Differences lie in their size and weight: the Ram Runner comes in five inches shorter and 163 kg lighter. But which is the better prerunner? To find out, Motor Trend's Mike Febbo teamed up with professional offroad racer Joe Bacal at on-road driving loop before heading to Nevada for some offroad desert action. Check it out.
