Rare 1992 Vector W8 Going Under the Hammer

Auction

One of just 17 built.

Only 17 of these were built between 1990 and 1993, so a 1992 Vector W8 entering the marketplace is a rare event indeed. The American supercar was an evolution of the Vector W2, combining a semi-aluminum monocoque with a carbon-fiber/Kevlar body, enabling the W8 to weigh in at just 1,506 kg. Under the hood, a Corvette-sourced 5.7-liter V8 comes equipped with two turbos generating 650 hp and 649 lb-ft of torque.

During dyno testing the W8 put down 1,200 hp at maximum boost. All that grunt was sent to the rear axle via a three-speed automatic box, enabling it to reach 60 mph in 4.2 seconds en route to a top speed over more than 220 mph. This particular model will go under the hammer at RM Auction’s Monterey sale held on August 15-16. Photos by Pawel Litwinski courtesy of RM Auctions.
