To celebrate the M8 Gran Coupe entering production, BMW launched an ultra-limited First Edition with a special exterior color inspired by the original M8 Gran Coupe Concept. Only 400 examples were slated for production. But if that wasn't exclusive enough for you, BMW also launched the even rarer M8 Gran Coupe First Edition 8-Of-8.

As the name implies, only eight examples were built, making it an extremely rare sight on the road. Sadly, there are now only seven examples left in the world because one of them was reduced to a mangled wreck during an unfortunate accident. We don't know the cause of the crash, but the impact must have been severe to cause such extensive damage to the four-door Gran Coupe.

Photos shared on the BMW M Competition Facebook page show the rare M8 Gran Coupe suffered extensive damage to the front right fender, which was ripped off. The front bumper will also need to be replaced and the front right bronze wheel is also badly damaged. There could also be some mechanical damage to the suspension. Considering the M8 Gran Coupe is regarded as one of the most beautiful cars BMW currently builds, it's distressing to see one get so badly beaten up.

We're hoping this rare M8 Gran Coupe can still be salvaged, but the repair costs certainly won't be cheap. Pricing for the First Edition is unknown, but both versions would have cost more than the regular M8 Gran Coupe, which starts at $143,000.

The M8 Gran Coupe First Edition is distinguished by its Aurora Diamond Green Metallic exterior paint with gold bronze accents inspired by the M8 Gran Coupe Concept. As for the 8-Of-8 edition, each example has the model designation number lasered onto the B-pillar, stitched into the headrests, and applied to the M8 badge on the trunk.

An Individual Manufaktur signet displayed on a metal inlay on the cupholder and painted on side skirts further emphasizes the model's exclusivity. Like the regular M8 Gran Coupe Competition, power is provided by a 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8 producing 617 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
