Just 229 BMW Z8 roadsters were made in this particular spec.
RM Sotheby's will present this 2002 BMW Z8 for sale as part of its Arizona auction on January 26, 2023, and it's sure to attract numerous bids.
For a start, the Z8 is a rare machine of which only 5,702 examples were made. The drop-top homage to the stunning BMW 507 is a fantastic piece of retro design and was even praised by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who purchased and regularly drove one himself. This one is particularly noteworthy due to its rare specification and low mileage.
Finished in Jet Black over a Crema leather interior, this is one of 229 Z8s so specced from the factory.
As the images clearly show, this example is near-perfect, with the immaculate bodywork and leather.
Just under 7,430 miles have been covered under the stewardship of only two recorded owners since new. Although a set of 20-inch Alpina Dynamic D01 wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires have been fitted, this Z8 is one of the finest around.
The original wheels are included with the sale, as is a matching Jet Black hardtop with a stand. The factory tools, window sticker, delivery letter, serialized coffee table book, rear window protector, and car cover have also been kept in beautiful condition.
It's difficult to estimate what this example will change hands for, but the current consignor, who has owned the car since taking it off the hands of the original owner in April 2021, is undoubtedly expecting a high figure as the vehicle is being offered with no reserve. With an entire service history, the M5-sourced V8 engine should be running beautifully.
Examples with ultra-low mileage have sold for as much as half a million bucks - or 10 times the value of a 2022 BMW Z4 - and the older the Z8 gets, the more valuable it is expected to become. If you have the means, act now or risk facing ever higher values in the years to come.
