Dodge was caught off guard by the huge demand over the past year for its Challenger and Charger Hellcats. Not only were the wait lists long, but the production rate was too slow. Things are different for model year 2016, as Dodge has just announced its plan of attack. For starters, production is being significantly increased for both Hellcats by streamlining the process, and all remaining 2015 SRT Hellcat scheduled orders will be built. However, all unscheduled 2015 orders will be cancelled.

No worries because those customers will receive a discounted 2016 model instead. Dodge is also making life easier for dealers this year by refining the allocation plan. Basically, two allocation cycles will occur – in August 2015 and February 2016. Allocation eligibility will also continue to be based on past Dodge sales performance, meaning the dealers' average Hellcat "days on lot" performance. Order books will open the second week of August, and both Hellcats now feature standard ultra-premium Laguna leather interiors, Uconnect with nav, HD radio and five years of SiriusXM Travel Link and SiriusXM Traffic.
