At an unknown dealer lot in Europe, our spy photographers have broken out their cameras to bring us our first look at the refreshed 2024 facelift for the Audi Q8.

Their efforts are greatly appreciated, as the new design looks more expressive and intricate than before, thanks to new headlights, a revised grille, redesigned taillights, and more. Much of the news surrounding Audi of late has concerned its push towards EVs, specifically its exploits using electrified powertrains in grueling rally events and how the brand plans to change its factories to accommodate this new focus.

But rest assured; there are still several combustion-powered Audis to come for a while yet.

We recently saw test mules of the next Audi S4 wagon and the Q5 crossover, so it was only a matter of time before we'd see a new Q8. The hybrid version of the Lamborghini Urus will also wear a refreshed face, so it's only fitting that the Italian SUV's corporate cousin gets similar treatment.

At the front, the new Q8 will feature headlights very similar to those on the latest 8Y A3, S3, and RS3. That means that the lower section of the headlight will be more deeply recessed, moving further away from the central grille. That grille sits in a bumper featuring more elements similar to those seen on the 8Y, while the grille itself now wears a rounded design for each embellishment of the grille, replacing the current Q8's square mesh design.

At the rear, the taillights are essentially the same shape as those on the current model but with redesigned graphics. The bumper does not appear any different, but subtle changes could be coming to the diffuser trim panel.

Under the hood (which has been left open on this example, strangely), we can expect some tweaks but nothing revolutionary. Power will probably be bumped, and CO2 emissions should be lowered, but Audi won't have a new engine or anything of that sort.

Audi wants to be all-electric by 2033, but at least it promises its EVs will be pretty fantastic. Until then, expect only subtle changes to combustion-powered Audis.
