Innovative electric hatchback concept designed by Ross Lovegrove previews next-generation Twingo.
Last month Renault previewed a new concept styled by noted designer Ross Lovegrove, and now it's revealed the full thing. Called the Twin'Z, the concept features an advanced design and electric powertrain. Lovegrove's design includes powered rear suicide doors that allowed for the removal of the B-pillar to open up the cabin, with lights following the body's contours. The seats are covered in a semi-translucent, waterproof and fire-retardant material, with a dashboard tablet-controlled infotainment system.
The concept rides on an advanced suspension with Ohlins dampers and double wishbones at the rear, pushing the wheels (also styled by Lovegrove with special Michelin rubber) out to the corners for an aggressive stance. Power comes from an electric motor driving 67 hp and 167 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels, and with less than 1,000 kg to motivate, can reach a modest 50 mph top speed. The Twin'Z is one of two new concepts that provide a glimpse into what Renault has planned for the next Twingo, to be joined by a hot hatch concept spied a few weeks ago. Expect both to make debuts at Goodwood in the summer.
