French automaker Renault has announced two new racing models that feature motorsport kits which celebrates the company's participation in FIA's two-wheel drive class. The Twingo Renaultsport R1 and R2 Trophy editions will soon go on sale for affordable prices meant to draw in young rally drivers. The Twingo Renaultsport R1 Trophy has a 133hp 1.6-liter engine and a gearbox identical to the production model, but has "essential safety equipment" and can participate in all types of rallies.
The Twingo Renaultsport R2 Trophy is a near identical clone to the R1, however, specific differences weren't announced. According to Patrice Ratti, CEO of Renault Sport Technologies, these cars intensify the company's presence "in UK rallying and will...reinforce the image of Renaultsport cars in the UK market."
