Rendering artist Theophilus Chin decided to get a bit creative and use his design skills to etch out the BMW X5 GranLastwagen, which means "Gran Truck" in German. The unique design of the X5 gives BMW fans something to ponder. For example, BMW unveiled a one-off M3 pickup earlier this year as an April Fool's Day gag. The truck is based off the BMW X5 five-door mid-size SUV that comes available in both diesel and gasoline-powered engines.

The X5 M initially made its debut at the New York Auto Show in 2009 and produces a solid output of 555hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. BMW is an automaker that's become so good at creating new segments (think X6 crossover performance...whatever it is). It's pretty surprising they haven't considered delving into truck production. If they can build something like the X6 or even the 5-Series GT, then anything is possible. The X5 pickup truck rendering gives us at least something to ponder. We can only wonder what the executives and BMW had to say about the design. We honestly wouldn't be shocked if something like this appears as a concept someday.
