The Audi R8 will reportedly be receiving a mid-life facelift and increased power under the hood for 2012.

Audi plans to release a facelifted version of the R8 sometime next year. The Audi R8 will also get more power. The upcoming 2012 Audi R8 will receive an engine upgrade that increased the 5.2-liter V10 to deliver an output of 525hp from the current 510hp. The newly revised Audi R8 will see an upgrade from its 4.2-liter V8 to produce an output of 436hp from the current 416hp. Audi has also confirmed that both the GT and GT Spyder versions will be restored.

The Audi R8 is almost five years old but still looks like a new model. When taking a closer look at the cosmetic changes, we can expect the front and rear bumpers to receive some design improvements. The Audi R8 will be slightly facelifted similar to the one planned by Lamborghini for the Gallardo. The Lamborghini Gallardo will not "go under the knife" anytime soon. Pricing for the Audi R8 GT begins at $196,800. Photos displayed are of the 2011 Audi R8.
