In an interview with German car mag Auto Motor und Sport, the much-talked about X4 will finally make its way in to production according to BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer. It will be positioned right below the X5 SAV. In terms of design language, the new X4 will be built with BMW's newest philosophy of defined wheel arches. It will also share similar styling with the X3 but receive a distinct front-end and rear-end. The car, known in-house as the F26, will share the X3's platform.

This makes sense, as the X4 will be just as long as the X3. Both models are measured at 183 inches. The four-door model will also make use of the X3's motors, running on either the 4- or 6-cylidner diesel or gasoline engines. The BMW X4 is rumored to be built at the German automaker's plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina and arrive in showrooms in 2014.
