Report: Toyota Prius Coupe Coming in 2014

Industry News

A new report has revealed a new line of Prius vehicles are in the works.

Prius as a standalone brand? It sure looks like it. Toyota already has plans to thicken their hybrid lineup with the Prius C and the Prius V, and now it has been reported that the Japanese automaker will release another version of the Prius in coupe form for 2014. The replacement for the current Prius sedan is also slated for 2014. That means three new Prius models in three years on the back of the seven-seater Prius Plus making its way into British dealerships early next year.

The new Prius coupe will be based on the next generation Lexus GS according to a report by Auto Express. The new rear-wheel-drive coupe should feature standard Prius features such as a lithium-ion battery, plug-in hybrid technology and manual transmission. 2014 could also see the debut of the RAV4-based Prius SUV. Rumors have persisted about a hybrid SUV since the Hybrid X Concept from the Geneva Motor Show in 2007.
