We got wind of this last month, but now the German carmaker has released a couple of teaser images of the Mercedes-Maybach S600 ahead of the luxury sedan's reveal at the upcoming Los Angeles and Guangzhou motor shows in the US and China. The newly created Mercedes-Maybach sub-brand will be synonymous with super-luxury much in the same way as Mercedes-AMG is identified with performance.

The first model to wear the resurrected nameplate is the S600, which will be differentiated from other S-Class models by a restyled front grille, lengthened rear doors, and a newly-designed ultra-plush interior featuring individual reclining rear seats. Power will come from a revised variant of AMG's 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12. Other markets will get a twin-turbo V8 in the S500, while China will have to make do with a V6 in the AWD S500 4Matic. The Mercedes-Maybach S600 will form the basis of the S600 Pullman that will be unveiled next year with an even longer wheelbase and seating for six.
