Thousands of customers will be able to configure their trucks.
We've got some great news for reservation holders of the 2023 Rivian R1T Truck; the company just announced that a large group of customers will soon be invited to configure their vehicles. Rivian says "thousands of R1T reservation holders can expect an invitation from us in the coming days." After their order is placed online, the truck will be delivered in one to four months.
"This is all part of our focus on ramping production and improving delivery timing for our customers," a Rivian spokesperson told CarBuzz.
If reservation holders want a truck even sooner than that, they will soon gain access to the R1 Shop, which will allow them to search currently available models in inventory. These trucks may not have every feature and color combination they are looking for, but they can be available" as quickly as a couple of weeks."
Thus far, Rivian has only delivered the Launch Edition and Adventure Edition R1T models, both powered by quad electric motors producing 835 horsepower. The quad motor truck is tied to a Large battery pack, which measures 135 kWh and delivers up to 328 miles of range. All upcoming deliveries will still be the Large battery and quad motor configuration, not any of the other promised models.
Rivian will later release a 600 hp dual motor version with an available 180 kWh Max battery pack that can travel around 400 miles on a charge. Sadly, the R1T with the bigger battery has been repeatedly delayed.
Our "strong demand and preorder backlog extends into 2024," the spokesperson said. "As we enter 2023, ramping that production and delivering to our customers are core priorities. We're excited to continue to scale and get R1 (R1T and R1S) delivered to excited customers."
Pricing for the R1T Adventure trim technically starts at $73,000, but the quad motor setup adds another $8,000 to the price and the large pack costs an additional $6,000. In other words, the cheapest available R1T rings in at $87,000. At least anxious customers now have a more concrete timeline for when their truck will arrive.
