In a stellar lineup of track-focused superstars and everyday performance coupes, the Porsche 911 GT3 has come out on top with Road & Track naming it the 2015 Performance Car of the Year. Beating out the Ferrari 458 Speciale, Dodge Viper SRT TA, Chevy Camaro Z/28, Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, BMW M3, Ford Mustang GT, Nissan GT-R Nismo, and Alfa Romeo 4C among others, the 911 GT3 took the crown thanks in part to its 9,000-rpm redline, and "prodigious cornering and handling capabilities."

Editor-in-chief Larry Webster said of the 475-hp rear-engined machine: "As much as the Porsche's looks and sound were enough to pull our heartstrings, it also topped the speed charts across every category. It's just an incredibly well-rounded and entertaining machine. It's a car to dream about." The 911 GT3 takes the crown from last year's winner, the Corvette Stingray, and follows its World Performance Car of the Year title announced at the 2014 NY Auto Show.
