If it seems like Rolls-Royce is constantly rolling out special editions, well, that's probably because it is. And now it has revealed one more. This one commemorates the Austrian Alpine Trials a century ago in which four Silver Ghosts climbed 1,820 miles into the Alps that, in Rolls-Royce's words, "helped cement the marque's reputation for peerless reliability and mechanical excellence". To pay tribute to the feat, Rolls is introducing a special-edition Ghost at the Shanghai Auto Show this weekend.

The Rolls-Royce Ghost Alpine Trial Centenary Collection is distinguished by a shade of light blue with black grille and wheels inspired by the hill-climbing original. The interior is decked out with a special clock, unique inlaid rear picnic tables, wood veneers and a hand-painted coachline. The company is also embarking upon a reenactment of the original feat. On June 14, a 40-car motorcade (including one of the special editions and one of the original entrants) will traverse the mountains of Austria, Slovenia, Italy and Croatia, ending on June 29 with a gathering of 100 classic Silver Ghosts in Riva del Garda, Italy.
