Rolls-Royce is celebrating the 101st anniversary of its company founders' endurance record, which was "unprecedented of its time and legendary to this day." Back in 1907, Charles Rolls, Claude Johnson, and Sir Henry Royce, achieved a non-stop long-distance endurance record of 14,371 miles in a Silver Ghost, a challenge that was unprecedented at the time. Its success was immediately recognized by the world's media, and still remains impressive today.

To commemorate the historic record run, Rolls-Royce has revealed the stunning Silver Ghost Collection. Based on the 2018 Rolls-Royce Ghost, production will be limited to just 35 units. Each car will be created at Rolls-Royce's home in Goodwood, UK, and will be finished in Cassiopeia Silver paint, a bespoke and complex paint that echoes the silver paint of the original Ghost. According to Rolls-Royce, it takes up to eight hours to apply the prestigious paint finish, which uses fine particles of 100 percent pure silver. Elsewhere, black painted grille veins mimic the distinctive black grille of the original Silver Ghost, while the fully-polished wheel centers feature "Silver Ghost Since 1907" lettering.

The iconic Spirit of Ecstasy emblem also features a newly designed AX201 Hallmark referencing the license plate of the original Silver Ghost. Inside, the opulent cabin is fitted with Forest Green leather upholstery as a nod to the original interior color scheme. Newly designed silver tipped leather also makes its debut in a Rolls-Royce car, incorporated onto the front and rear door panniers. Even the clock is a homage to the original Silver Ghost, engraved with 'Silver Ghost Since 1907' lettering and "styled as an ingot of silver." There's also a bespoke center console that includes a watch, sunglasses, accessories case and a 'Silver Ghost' pen.

The tread plates also "proudly authenticate each motor car," engraved with the words 'Silver Ghost Collection – One of Thirty-Five.' Don't think that Rolls-Royce has skimped on modern luxuries, however. Despite the vintage styling, each Silver Ghost car comes equipped with Kleer headphones with WiFi support, improved USB and HDMI connections, 4G LTE standard antenna, and Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service for the United States. "The extraordinary accomplishments of our marque's founding fathers are honored by the creation of this elegant 'Silver Ghost Collection,'" said CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos.

"The Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective masterfully weave the rich narrative of the original 'Silver Ghost' into just 35 motor cars, creating a contemporary homage to the original motor car. Today, our craftspeople and master artisans continue this legacy of excellence, creating unique motor cars that define luxury." No pricing details have been announced. However, prices for the standard Rolls-Royce Ghost start at $312,000, so we expect the limited availability of the Silver Ghost edition will add a hefty premium.
