It’s only a matter of time before the luxury carmaker rolls out an SUV concept.
It’s been under consideration for some time now, and it appears Rolls-Royce is getting close to “entering the SUV segment.” Speaking at the Frankfurt Motor Show, CEO Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes revealed designers are currently working on initial sketches and a decision will then be made whether the brand can embrace an SUV model in its lineup. "The SUV segment is very interesting. It has been incredibly stable during the crisis, and I think a luxury niche will develop," said Mueller-Oetvoes.
Bentley has already green lit its Falcon SUV for a 2016 reveal, Maserati plans to start production of the Levante SUV in 2015, and Jaguar’s C-X17 crossover concept unveiled this week in Frankfurt demonstrates its intentions in the luxury crossover segment. Rolls-Royce is almost certainly now to follow suit.
