Rolls-Royce offers so many special edition models, it seems like almost every car the company sells is bespoke in some way. But like clockwork, a new Rolls-Royce Collection Car has just been revealed and this one is unlike any other we've seen before. It's called the 2020 Rolls-Royce Wraith Kryptos Collection and it will be limited to just 50 units worldwide.

"The name Kryptos is derived from Ancient Greek, referring to something unseen, hidden and coded, mythical even. Ciphers can be traced through millennia, capturing the imagination of some of the world's most brilliant minds," said Rolls-Royce Bespoke Designer, Katrin Lehmann. "As a designer, I've always been fascinated by the notion that you can communicate messages that are understood by only an elite few, using symbols, pictograms, and ciphers. Finding the key becomes integral to appreciating the full meaning of an item that can otherwise be viewed simply as a work of art."

The Kryptos Collection is unlike any other Rolls-Royce because it contains an encrypted cipher throughout the car. This pattern may seem random but Rolls-Royce has in fact created a functioning cipher with a puzzle that needs to be solved in order to reveal a secret message.

"The Wraith Kryptos Collection, on first glance, is a statement of dynamism," said Rolls-Royce CEO, Torsten Muller-Otvos. "On closer examination, a series of messages are hidden behind a unique Rolls-Royce cipher. I look forward to seeing whether any of our clients will crack the code!" Only two people at Goodwood, Lehmann and Otvos, know the full resolution of the cipher. We wonder if the code reveals a hidden secret about an upcoming Rolls-Royce product.

The cipher begins with a green enamel engraving below the Spirit of Ecstacy. On the exterior, a bespoke Delphic Grey paint scheme gives the Kryptos Collection its own unique look. Only in the sunlight does this color reveal its hidden blue and green mica flakes. The dual-color effect is accentuated by a hand-painted double coachline with the upper portion in Kryptos Green and the lower portion in Dark Grey.

Inside, the car features bespoke Kryptos Green leather with elements of the cipher stitched into the headrests. Instead of the standard starry night headline, this special edition features an in-motion data-stream inspired motif that matches the cipher motif. No pricing information was given for this special edition Wraith but it should cost significantly more than the base model, which starts at $330,000.
