You can win a prize by figuring it out.
Over the summer, the 2020 Rolls-Royce Wraith received a unique special edition model called the Kryptos Collection. Limited to just 50 units worldwide, the Kryptos Collection contains a secret message hidden through an Ancient Greek cipher. Rolls-Royce included various clues hidden around the vehicle and even launched an online game where fans got the chance to win a customized treadplate if they managed to complete all four levels.
This week, the British marque will help fans unravel the mysterious Kryptos Collection puzzle. "Wraith Kryptos is a Rolls-Royce Collection like no other. It is embedded with a cryptographic cipher and filled with mystery and intrigue. Today, we reveal the first clue for clients as they begin to receive their cars around the world," said Torsten Muller-Otvos, Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
"The Spirit of Ecstasy, the figurine that graces the bonnet of every Rolls-Royce motor car, holds the key to uncovering this code," Muller-Otvos explained. "The word KRYPTOS is engraved in Rolls-Royce cipher around the base of the figurine, and with this information, clients will be able to embark on their cryptographic journey. The first client to decrypt this code will receive a unique gift from Rolls-Royce in recognition of their extraordinary talent!"
Rolls-Royce Bespoke Designer Katrin Lehmann previously announced that fans who wanted to solve the puzzle needed to find a special key. With no successful descriptions to-date, Lehmann lets puzzle solvers know that the seven characters in the KRYPTOS code can be deciphered and lead them to the next clue.
As a bonus, Rolls-Royce also revealed that the cipher stitched into the headrest translates to the double-R monogram. Perhaps with the knowledge of the Kryptos code on the Spirit of Ecstacy and the stitched monogram, someone will be able to solve the puzzle. Only two individuals in Goodwood know the answer to the code, the designer and the CEO. Anyone who solves the puzzle can submit their efforts on the Whispers application by February 2021.
