A few days back a report came in from Edmund's Inside Line claiming that they achieved a 7.3 second 0 to 60 mph time for the 2013 Subaru BRZ. That time gives the impression that the BRZ and its Toyota/Scion twins have the performance of a minivan. Needless to say, we were pretty surprised by the time. Now, however, a new test report coming from Motor Trend claims they've achieved a 0 to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds, nearly an entire second less. So who's right on this one?

Inside Line claimed that their time was the result of the fact that the "rev limiter in second gears kicks in at 59.2 mph, requiring a second shift to achieve the milestone and slowing the time considerably." Motor Trend's official time doesn't come with a technical explanation, but it does sound more realistic and they didn't say anything about that required second shift. Even Motor Trend's quarter mile time was faster, coming in at 14.9 seconds at 95.5 mph. Inside Line's numbers have it at 15.3 seconds at 92.1 mph. We have yet to see official times from Subaru, so it should be interesting to see what numbers they eventually come up with.
