It's been an off and on again rumor that we've heard before. Cadillac would very much like to build a new large rear-wheel drive sedan to go up against foreign brands and models such as the BMW 7-Series, Audi A8, and Lexus LS. Since GM's financial problems are under control, Cadillac is supposedly once again considering a return to the large, rear-drive classic flagship formula that made them so famous back in the day.
Although it won't arrive until 2014, at the earliest, we can expect it to be V8-powered, unlike the Cadillac Sixteen concept from 2003. It had a 13.6-liter V-16 engine. Yes, that would rule. If production happens, a hybrid option would also likely be offered and it could be built on the automaker's upcoming rear-wheel-drive platform, supposedly called "Omega." No other details have been confirmed, but in order for Cadillac to truly become the "Standard of the World" once again, a large rear-drive sedan is a must.
