Rumor: Mercedes Preparing G65 AMG Limited Edition

Limited Edition

Although it's only a rumor for now, Mercedes-Benz appears to be toying with the idea of throwing in a V12 engine into the iconic G-Wagen. Considering the SUV will shortly be discontinued, this could serve as the best way to give it a proper sendoff. Currently, the fearless off-roader with body-on-frame construction comes fitted with a supercharged 5.5-liter V8 with 507hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. It can go from 0 to 62 mph in only 5.5 seconds and has a top speed of 131 mph.

According to an insider's report, however, Mercedes dealers are already trying to gauge prospective buyers' interest for a possible G65 AMG version, which would likely be fitted with the S65 AMG's 6.0-liter biturbo V12 that produces 612 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque. Mercedes hasn't confirmed any of this, so it's all just speculation for now.
