Will Porsche actually be resurrecting the 550 for a new sub-Boxster model? According to Auto Express, the new Porsche will be based on the Volkswagen Bluesport Concept from the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. The 550 will get its power from a new 1.6-liter flat-four with 200hp. It will be RWD with a manual transmission, and rumor has it will eventually offer a PDK dual-clutch transmission.

Total weight is estimated at 2,600lbs with a manual top and it is expected to hit 60mph in around 6 seconds. The Porsche 550 isn't likely to be released until summer 2014. Photo displayed is of the 1953 Porsche 550 Spyder.
