To sum up Chrysler's feelings toward the recently departed Magnum, one quote from Chrysler Design Chief Ralph Gilles says it all: "That vehicle was single-handedly killed by one executive who is no longer with the company. He's retired. A lot of people in the company still like that vehicle - a lot. A lot of things that weren't possible back then now are." The Dodge Magnum, as you recall, got the chop during Chrysler's bankruptcy and reorganization in 2008-2009.

The popular station wagon, according to Wheels, could return sooner rather than later. Gilles, being interviewed at Willow Springs Raceway during a Chrysler event introducing high performance SRT versions of several Chrysler vehicles including the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Jeep Grand Cherokee, commented that "The Dodge Viper, certainly, is a likely choice for an SRT version," he said. "Also, we know we need an entry-level vehicle of some kind." He confirmed that the Dodge Viper indeed be making its return as a 2012 model.

The Dodge Magnum was also a big hit in Europe and Australia as well. The wagon was dubbed the Chrysler 300 Touring and used a front end taken straight from the 300C.
