Steve Saleen brings back the 351 - only this time, it's got 700 horsepower.
Saleen used to be the biggest name in Mustang tuning. But that was before the company split, its founder Steve Saleen starting anew as SMS. Now that the two are reunited, they've revived their most formidable nameplate for the latest Mustang - in prototype form, at least. Unveiled at the Fabulous Fords show at Knott's Berry Farm in California, the new Saleen 351 packs a supercharged V8 displacing 351 cubic inches (5.75 L) and churning out 700 horses and 655 lb-ft of torque. That's a lot more than the 495 hp produced by the 90s-era Saleen 351.
It's also visually differentiated with an SMS aero kit, upgraded wheels and interior and Orange County paint. The finished product should hit the market sometime later this year. (Live photos courtesy of MustangsDaily.com)
