Mulliner's new Flying Spur offers new levels of luxury never seen before.
The Bentley Flying Spur is one of the most luxurious four-door cars in the world, but the brand's Mulliner personalization division has made the already-opulent sedan even more special. Revealed at Monterey Car Week, the new flagship 2022 Bentley Flying Spur Mulliner represents the "ultimate in four-door luxury Grand Touring". Mulliner's take on the Flying Spur features a raft of bespoke exterior and interior details to create Bentley's most luxurious sedan ever.
Bentley's new flagship sedan rides on unique 22-inch wheels with a grey painted and polished finish. The self-leveling wheel caps ensure the Bentley logo remains in the correct orientation as the wheels rotate. Styling-wise, the Flying Spur is distinguished by a "Double Diamond" front grille and chrome front lower grille. Mulliner branding is also applied to the wing vents and the mirror caps are finished in Satin Silver.
The illuminated Flying B hood ornament is electronically deployed and there are also jewel fuel and oil caps. Inside, the opulent cabin is fitted with illuminated outer treadplates and deep-pile overmats. As you would expect from Bentley's personalization division, there are eight custom three-color combinations available.
One of the configurations called Ascot applied Imperial Blue leather to the instrument panel, door trims and headlining, combined with light tan leather seats and white micro-piping as seen in the images below.
The Mulliner Driving Specification is fitted as standard, which adds a diamond-in-diamond quilting pattern to the seats that takes 18 months to develop, with each diamond featuring 712 individual stitches. 3D textured leather is also added to the doors and a diamond milled technical finish is applied to the center and rear consoles.
At the center is a brushed silver Mulliner clock. Other standard luxury features include a rotating display, sports pedals, a heated three-spoke steering wheel, and a panoramic sunroof. Rear passengers can also access unique electrically operated picnic tables.
Mulliner's ultra-luxury Flying Spur is available with a choice of three powertrains including a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 542 horsepower and 658 lb-ft of torque, a 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 engine rated at 662 hp and 664 lb-ft, and a 2.9-liter V6 hybrid good for 536 hp and 553 lb-ft. This is the first time a Mulliner Bentley has been offered with an electrified powertrain. Buyers will receive leather-bound keys in a presentation box matching the three-color cabin. Pricing and availability have not been announced, but Mulliner's Flying Spur will cost a premium over the standard version, which starts at $196,000.
