With just days until Las Vegas plays host to this year's SEMA show, Scion helped to build the hype by throwing a private party in LA where they previewed a trio of Tuner Challenge FR-S models along with four other customized FR-S models that all showcase a distinct theme. The three tuners competing for the top FR-S tuner award are John Toca of Chicago, Illinois; Daniel Song of Orange County, California; and Chris Basselgia of Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

Each contestant was given $15,000 and three months to modify a stock 2013 Scion FR-S, with the winner to receive prize money of $10,000. At the LA shindig, Daniel Song's matte black FR-S GT racer model was the crowd favorite, although there were plenty of good words said about the Minty FReSh FR-S and Carbon Stealth models. Cartel Customs orange and black convertible and Meguiar's bright yellow creation also impressed, the latter sporting a ChargeSpeed carbon-fiber aero kit, Fly Yellow paint, and Vortech Supercharger under the hood.
