SEAT Ibiza SC Trophy

Motorsport

SEAT has decided to launch a single-brand championship series next year, which will feature races in both Italy and SEAT's homeland of Spain. This means it's time to break out one of the sweetest words in the enthusiast's vocabulary, homologation. The Ibiza SC Trophy was shown recently at the Worthersee GTI festival. It didn't get quite as much attention as the A1 Clubsport Quattro, but SEAT has done some extensive work to get the Ibiza track ready.

The SC Trophy has been made lower, longer and wider, and now wears 17-inch racing wheels. Weight has been stripped down to 2,330lbs. The engine and transmission are the same 178hp 1.4 TSI and 7-speed DSG that are found in the Cupra model which this is based on, but the SC Trophy also gets a modified oil sump to deal with the high lateral G's anticipated in the racing.
